Meet Chef Jason

 

Chef Jason L. Batts is an Alumnus of Hudson County Community with an Associate Degree in Culinary Arts. Chef Jason has been professional cooking for 28 years and is a successful owner of Soul Expressions Dining in 2022.

Before transitioning to Personal/Private Chef, Chef Jason  worked as a Line Cook, working special events such as:

2. PGA Golf Tournament

3. International Restaurant Food Show at the Jacob Javits Center

4. Taste of Morristown

5. Foodtopia Downtown Newark

6. HCCC Culinary Arts Foundation Dinner

My Journey

My Culinary Journey began at the age of 14. My first love was basketball which i have played ever since i was the age of 4.

My Dream was to go pro for the NBA, i got injured my junior year in high school i tore major ligaments in my ankle. Then i took different shop classes to get a feel of what i wanted to have a career in. I took Building Maintenance, Typing classes, Small Engine & Food Service. When i got to Food Service it blew my mind, i have learned so much about cooking and at the same time i can get creative. I took Food Service from until i graduated high school in 1998. I went on to pursue my Culinary career at top college on the east coast at Hudson County Community College in Jersey City, New Jersey.  Each class was 10 days long ,but i got a lot of knowledge in each class. I have also learned how to be a maitre'd and tableservice. Went on to Graduate in 2022 with an Associate Degree.  My Journey continued working some of the fine dining restaurants. The Hilton at Short Hills, N.J & Currently at the Westin Governor Morris in Morristown N.J. Now i'm Starting my Own Business and hoping to be an inspiration to help others reach there goals. "Believe in yourself and will succeed."
